CLASS RESPONSE NUMBER TWO:cell it or not to cell it, that is the question edition

It isn't exactly THE number one parents nightmare, but it ranks among the top 3. We've all watched the news some time. Various people, harassing innocent children. You may think, oh well they were just unlucky and it could never possibly in the whole entire world happen to me.

Think again.

What if the 'predator' took something the majority of the world uses and uses it to harm children? What is prevalent around the Earth? Simple. Here's a clue:
ring ring ring. Hey, why don't you get that? Don't want to miss a call. Exactly. Predators and pedophiles are using our cell phones against us. Ted Thompson is the executive director for the National Association to Prevent Sexual Abuse (NAPSA). He said, '"The fact is a teacher can show absolutely zero outward signs of interest in a child, but because of technology, then can have an ongoing relationship and no one would know."' Parents warn kids about online predators and to not open emails when you don't know the sender. A New York mom said that she uses a special software to check her kids emails and where they go online, but never thought to check their cell phones with the same precaution. Detective Joshua Shelton, of the crimes against women and children's unit in Fayette County, Georgia says, '"Parents don't have the involvement that they should with these electronic devices. Parents should consider cell phones that have Internet access like an open window into their house, because that's exactly what these people are using it as."'
Instead of working on firewalls for the computers and laptops, they should work on firewalls for cell phone online internet use.

CLASS RESPONSE NUMBER ONE:mix 'n' match density rainbow edition

A few days ago, the green class split up into six different groups and tried to make a density rainbow with five different liquids according to their density. We didn't know what was in the cups, but we were warned that one of the cups contained alcohol that could seriously sting and hurt your eyes. We wrote the colors down from least amount of density to the greatest amount of density on a sheet and it came out like this:
1.green(less dense)
2.yellow
3.red
4.blue
5.brown(most dense)
There were three extra cups with nothing in them to try out our hypothesis in each cup, changing the experiment a little if it didn't work the first time. Then on the bottom of the page there was a blank space where we planned what we were going to do. Then we were given a poster to write down what we did and weren't allowed to use personal pronouns.

Here's link to the picture of what it sort of looked like:

Mythbusters Extra Credit

It's too late to receive credit for the extra credit but I'll just put it on here anyway because it may come in handy.

1)What episode did you watch?
Online I watched the episode "Shooting Fish in a Barrel."

2)Describe the episode and who was in it.
The episode was basically Adam and Jamie trying to see if the saying 'as easy as shooting fish in a barrel' is really that easy. They experimented different ideas such as if the fish was alive and how big the fish would be and the different measurements that would take place. And, of course, Adam and Jamie are in it.

3)How did the Mythbusters follow general lab safety?
They put a barrel inside of a 'cage' so no one would get hurt.

4)Did they break any?
Yes, they did. First, when Jamie was making the motor he didn't use safety goggles. Also, when Jamie was trying to shoot the fish he and Adam were supposed to wear googles to protect their eyes.

5)How did the episode use science?
The episode used science by using the scientific method. They stated the problem, formed a hypothesis, researched, made an experiment, tested it, made a few changes and tested it again, etc.

6)Why would you need a science backround for a career in special effects?
You would need a science backround because it needs to look real; plausible. If it doesn't but looks really fake that won't help.
